How To Get a Host Pick on Poshmark...And Is It Worth It?

Selling clothes is a great way to create an easy side hustle, plus it’s great for the environment! If you’re into side hustles, you most likely have tried selling your clothes. Whether that’s with Depop, Plato’s Closet, ThredUP, Mercari, Poshmark and many other different platforms. I’ve worked on several different platforms and found that Poshmark is the best to sell clothes. I’ve been a member since 2020, Poshmark Ambassador since 2021 and have hosted 2 parties just in the month of August. Stay tuned for why I think Poshmark is the best platform to get the most return on your clothing!

Poshmark Parties

If you’ve been on Poshmark, you may have noticed that there are daily events called “parties.” Every day, there are 4 different events for you to share your items into.

9am PST – Brand Party: We choose our community’s favorite brands and feature them in a brand-focused party. These parties include brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Dior, Tory Burch, and more.
12pm PST – Category Party: Browse parties centered around fashion categories like “Hot Handbags”, “All About Boots” and “Just Jewelry”.
4pm PST – Department Party: These parties are focused on fashion departments like men, kids, maternity etc.
7pm PST – Style Party: Typically themed around styles and trends, such as “Street Style”, “Daytime to Date Night” and “Total Trendsetter”]

These are great to get your items and closet noticed! So, if you’re starting out with 0 followers, I recommend sharing as many items as you can into those parties, and sharing OTHERS as well!

When someone shares your clothing, it’s a good idea to share their items back. It’s a way of saying thank you. You can easily rack up your share number doing this, which is a great way to build trust with potential buyers and eventually lead you to become a Poshmark Ambassador and allow you to HOST those Poshmark parties I was talking about earlier.

How To Get a Host Pick

Disclaimer! This isn’t guaranteed to get you a host pick, just a strategy that I find works best for me!

The best way to get a host pick is to simply put your closet into the hosts faces! They won’t know your closet exists if you don’t engage!

Every day you will receive a notification from Poshmark informing you about the next day’s parties. Click one of the four parties to see who will be hosting! Once you see those profiles, it’s a great idea to follow and share at least 10 of their items. I also prefer to do it sooner rather than later so they can remember and save your items before they get filled up with the rest of Poshmark doing the same thing!

Another way that will likely get you a host pick is to tag the hosts under an item in your closet.

A way that I prefer when I’m a host is adding your items that you’d like in the party into a bundle for them to easily get to.

What Happens When You Get a Host Pick on Poshmark?

It’s really simple. To share your items to a party, simply click the share button under your item, then click “share to ____ party.” And that’s it!

When you get a host pick, that means a host did simply that to your item. But instead of your item being under the “main” section of the party. It will be under “host picks.” Your items are considered exclusive because they were chosen by one of the hosts! You will most likely receive about 50 shares just of your item that was shared by the host. It’s great to get noticed!

Is it Worth it to Try and Get a Poshmark Host Pick?

Some say yes, some say no. It’s great to get your closet more traction. This includes shares and followers. I personally think that if I have an extra 5-10 minutes to share the hosts closets, it doesn’t hurt to try!

Getting a host pick doesn’t guarantee a sale. I’ve had over a dozen host picks and not once has an item sold during a party, but it did grow my following and closet awareness.

Many people also like to add “HP” under the description of the item that was chosen as a Host Pick. This just means “Host Pick” and shows that their closet was chosen for a party. An easy way to gain trust with future customers!

I recommend trying to get a Host Pick until an item’s chosen, and then make the decision about if it’s worth it or not for you.

General Poshmark Tips

Unfortunately platforms like Mercari, Poshmark and Depop aren’t ones for you to just post your item and forget about it. You do have to be a bit active and engage in order to really see sales coming in.

I recommend sharing your entire closet once in the morning, once in the evening, and sharing it to a party whenever you can! And as I mentioned earlier, be sure to share 4-6 items of the person who shares yours as a thank you!
